Eyes to See is a book, video, and multimedia exhibit created by Stelli Munnis and Veronica Winters to share the experience of 23 US volunteers who travelled to rural Nicaragua to build a classroom with the California nonprofit, Seeds of Learning.
Volunteers went with the idea that they were there to help "those poor people," but they returned home having received so much more than they gave.
“I feel a greater sense of appreciation for life, and I now believe that anything is possible. The joy on everyone’s faces at the work site was beyond words. I saw how little they have and how happy they are. They welcomed us as if we were part of their family. They were not judgmental. If you said something a little off, they just helped you through it.”
